Coaching and Mentoring Practice

Goal and objectives
The goal of this course is to equip participants with all necessary tools and process for effective coaching and mentoring including deepening their learning though practicing. By the end of the course, the following aspects will be clarified:
- What is coaching and mentoring, and the differences to other capacity development approaches?
- What are main roles of a coach/mentor?
- What are main challenges in coaching?
- What is the characteristic of a good coach?
- What are skills needed for an effective coach/mentor?
- How can I develop these practical skills?
- Can we use a quick coaching process?
- What should be practical steps in coaching process?
Targets:
- Leaders and managers who need to delegate tasks;
- Capacity development officer; trainer, facilitator.
Methodology (language and materials will be in Khmer)
- Practices and reflection – Small class size only!
- Concept and tools to learners, and real coaching practices will be conducted. Each learner is requested to bring a performance related issue to the session for practice.
Course Facilitator:
Mr. Leng Chhay, OD Consultant, has over 15 years experience in capacity development in particular organizational development and facilitation of learning. He worked with a wide range of staff and leaders from local and international organizations, and facilitated individuals and organizations to learn and make a difference. Chhay spent six years living and studying in Germany, graduated an MBA. His work history started with a private development company; then over three years with Amret (formerly EMT); thereafter seven years in senor positions with VBNK, a leading capacity development institute in Cambodian. Since the end of 2007, he works as an independent consultant.
