Engineer for Civil Constructions
Description
People in Need (PIN), an international
NGO, seeks applications from pro-active and experienced candidates for the
position of Engineer for Civil Construction (ECC).
The ECC will work closely with the Health
Program Manager and Health Program Coordinator of People in Need on the construction work for 8 pre-post delivery
rooms, 6 water containers and 4 wells in Takeo province. The ECC will monitor and follow up construction work to ensure the
high quality of constructions. He will review
the existing design of pre-post delivery rooms and make adaptations where
necessary to meet the special requirement of individual health centers. The ECC
will make a progress report for each monitoring visit. He/she will plan
monitoring, follow-up activities and a personal visit schedule for
supervising the construction of the pre-post delivery rooms and the water
containers. He/she will ensure that every step of the construction process is
undertaken to a good and safe standard.

Position
Engineer for Civil Construction
Location
Based in Takeo province and may stay over night in the district
Duration
Full time position with 5-6 months contract
Responsibilities
- Monitor the quality of materials used and ensure high building standards.
- Review and amend existing design of pre-post delivery room where necessary
- Ensure both pre-post delivery room and water container construction` standards are met
- Ensure a timely progress of construction activities and that deadlines are met
- Make sure all construction` steps were strictly monitored and followed up
- Conduct regularly the progress report of both construction and make a final report on the successful completion of each construction
Requirements
- Good spoken and written Khmer and English (candidates with poor English will not be considered)
- At least 5 years full-time experience with NGOs or private construction company in monitoring and supervising the quality of civil construction
- University degree in Engineer of Civil Construction or related subject
- Good knowledge and experience in designing constructions (building and water container)
- Good communication skills for direct feedback/ advice to construction company when necessary
- Ability to assess the quality of construction
- Ability to work independently, under time pressure and after-hours if necessary
- Good spoken and written Khmer and English
- Willingness to travel extensively on a motorbike
