Position Purpose
The position of a
"Compliance and Business Ethics Director" is being established to
promote an ethical business culture within the organization by enforcing
the corporate Code of Conduct below and above his/her level. In that
capacity, the person will be responsible for the set up and management
of the company's business ethics programs, lead the internal
whisthleblowing (RCM) and subsequent investigation processes, training
and communication initiatives related to compliance projects. This
person will liaise with other corporate functions such as HR, Legal,
Audit, Finance, as well as local Management.
Responsibilities
Lead the creation, revision, communication, distribution and enforcement of JTI's Code of Conduct.
The Code of Conduct has to be reviewed every three years, at minimum.
The incumbent will lead the full process, ensuring alignment with all
respective functions, as well as international legal requirements and
societal expectations.
Promote a culture of business ethics at all levels of the organization
via tailor made projects / initiatives. This includes a) lead an annual
global compliance survey across the organization, and monitor the
evolution of employees' perception of the Company's ethical culture
(indirectly, monitor the success of business ethics programs); 2)
recommend and lead the implementation of projects and initiatives, based
on the result of the survey and new / upcoming international
legislation, and 3) provide counsel to various functions on questions of
ethics, upon request.
Lead the internal whistleblowing system.
Coordinate the investigations with the global investigation team,
brought to his/her attention via the corporate "reporting concern
mechanism". Ensure that employees are kept informed about this reporting
system according to J-Sox requirements and lead its future development.
Ensure corrective actions are implemented at local level and proper
reporting is done to the head of compliance.
Lead the design and development of training programs,
whether related with business ethic or other compliance related
requests coming from the functions. This includes, but is not limited
to: Code of Conduct online and offline training, Compliance Seminar,
Fraud awareness training, Contact Person Training. The incumbent will
directly be involved in the training of senior management, using
his/her experience, knowledge and leadership.
Lead the design, implementation and promotion of communication programs,
supporting the compliance function as a whole (and not only the
business ethics group). This includes the development of communication
campaigns in support of compliance programs using appropriate channels
(newsletter, publications, posters, intranet etc.) to facilitate the
comprehension of compliance related matters within the organization.
Liaise with the Regional Compliance Officers (RCOs) and local senior management,
and provide them with advice on ethics matters, be their "first line"
advice on the application of the Company's Code of Conduct, and help to
identify and guard against ethical risks associated with their
respective place of operation.
Qualifications & Experience
University
degree or equivalent. Up to date knowledge or relevant ethics issues
(via specific trainings, conferences etc) or professional or industry
ethics code
A passion for business ethics. 15-20
years professional experience in sales, marketing , finance,
communication or law , with at least 5-7 years in a role of team leader,
General Manager, head of unit, with several direct reports of different
cultures and work experiences. Experience abroad will be a plus.
Strong communication skills and ability to supervise communication /
training related projects.
Skills, Competencies & Languages
English fluent. Another language will be an asset.
