The Fiji Health Sector Support Program (FHSSP) is an Australian
Government, AusAID Initiative, providing support to the Ministry of
Health to deliver essential health services to the ordinary people of
Fiji. The FHSSP supports activities that will contribute to improving
health outcomes in maternal and child health, strengthening hypertension
and diabetes prevention and management, and revitalising primary health
care.
JTA International is currently seeking an experienced,
culturally sensitive and motivated individual for the role of Adviser
for Policy and Planning for the FHSSP. This position will be responsible
for the provision of support to the Policy, Planning and Analysis
Division of the Ministry of Health (MoH) to strengthen policy and
planning capacity across all levels of the health system. Key activities
will include: to provide support to the Policy, Planning and Analysis
Division, Ministry of Health to strengthen development and analysis of
the National Health Strategy; initiating of evidence-based policies and
reforms including monitoring of the performance of the health system,
with special emphasis on it financial performance.
The successful applicant will have:
- Five+ years’ experience working with/in partner government systems in a developing country context to build capacity and strengthen systems in health care environment;
- Demonstrated ability to collect data and analyse findings from the current medical literature and develop written conclusions regarding medical technology assessment in the areas of: clinical effectiveness, measurable health outcomes, and safety and appropriateness;
- Demonstrated experience in developing health policy and strategic planning in a developing country;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team based environment and contribute to the successful achievement of plans and frameworks.
- Advanced post-graduate qualifications in epidemiology, public health, international development, clinical guidelines development or health care policy.
- High level interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capacity to build positive relationships and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners, clinicians, regulatory agencies and others.
- Demonstrated experience in working in the Pacific context with an enhanced cultural awareness and sensitivity to customs and cultural differences.
