Position: Executive Director

Duty Station : Dhaka, Bangladesh

Salary: 120,000 US$ p.a. + house + car with driver + benefits

 
Partners in Population and Development, an intergovernmental alliance of 25 developing countries seeks to assist each other and other developing countries in addressing sexual and reproductive health and rights, including family planning and HIV/AIDS through South-South collaboration. PPD’s key strategies include senior level advocacy and policy dialogue, capacity building, sharing experiences and good practices and building strategic partnerships.

PPD is a Permanent Observer at the United Nations and has diplomatic status in Bangladesh. Apart from its Secretariat located in Dhaka, PPD has an Africa Regional Office in Kampala, Uganda and a programme office in China.

Reporting to the Chair of PPD, and as head of the Secretariat, the Executive Director will be directly responsible for mobilizing political and financial commitments, raising awareness about South-South collaboration, representing PPD in international fora and leading the development and implementation of PPD’s strategic plan.

Minimum qualifications for the position include a post graduate degree ( PhD desirable) in social, population, development or health science and 15 years of relevant professional experience in reproductive health, population and development including 5 years in a senior position in government, international development agencies or private sector and 5 years in residence in a developing country. Successful candidates are likely to have an outstanding track record in mobilising donor funds; managing multicountry projects with a wide range of stakeholders from varied cultural settings; and excellent communication skills in English. Fluency in French is desirable.

The position is open only to citizens of developing countries. The appointment is for an initial period of three years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
