Innovators are leading the way toward a healthier world by
bringing the power of mobile technology to developing countries and
using it in creative ways. To highlight the efforts and achievements of
innovative thinkers in the mHealth field from around the world, the
Rockefeller Foundation and the mHealth Alliance are announcing the Top 11 in 2011 Innovators Challenge.

We will announce the winners of the Top 11 in 2011 Innovators Challenge during the 2011 mHealth Summit on December 4, 2011.
What we are looking for: An Innovator can be anyone with a
creative and strategic solution in the mHealth field. This includes
mHealth leaders, rising experts, young professionals, and experts from
other fields who have incorporated mHealth into their work.
Eligibility for the Challenge:
• Must have worked on his/her mHealth project in some capacity in 2011
• Must be able to demonstrate how this innovation has led to improved health
• Must be able to convey how the Innovator overcame challenges
• Must be able to conceptualize how the innovation will evolve targeting developing countries
Criteria for the Challenge:
1. Originality: How does the Innovator’s
work demonstrate a pioneering idea or novel use of an existing tool that
breaks new ground for the field?
2. Scalability and Sustainability: How does the Innovator’s work foster scalability and sustainability of mHealth solutions?
3. Health Systems: What contribution has
the Innovator’s work done to contribute or show potential to contribute
to foster efficiency, strengthening, or transformation of health
systems?
4. Impact: How does the Innovator’s work show potential or demonstrated impact on improving health outcomes or quality of care?
5. If relevant, please describe the
geographic region where this Innovator’s work has had, or has the
potential to have, the most impact.
Top 11 winners can expect:
1. All expenses paid for the 2011 mHealth Summit, December 4-7 in Washington’s National Harbor
2. Increased visibility as people who are making a difference in mHealth globally
3. An increased awareness about the impact innovative mHealth solutions can have
4. To inspire other innovators to follow in this noble and notable field

The 3rd annual mHealth Summit will take place December 4-7, 2011 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington’s National Harbor. The largest event of its kind, the mHealth Summit will connect over 4,000 international leaders in government, medicine, academia, the private sector, not-for-profit organizations and more to drive forward the field of mHealth. The second Summit took place this past
November in Washington and was attended by over 2,600 participants and
200 journalists from around the world. The Summit featured keynote
speakers, including Bill Gates, panel discussions with leading voices
from the mHealth ecosystem, and roundtables on key mHealth topics.
