Course Objective:
This highly interactive course, using the best methods, will provide you with the skills to enable you to maximize the performance of your team.

1. DEFINING YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A TEAM LEADER
  • Define your vision, mission, and core values
  • What is required of you? – Your roles, functions and duties
  • Meeting the needs of your manager and team
  • Getting the best from your team and individuals (Supervising not only staff and also workplace environment)
  • Balancing your personal workload with the demands of your supervisory role

2. SUPERVISING PEOPLE AND MANAGING
  • Performance
  • Setting goals, objectives and standards of performance
  • Using the strengths of every team member
  • Giving and receiving feedback, criticism and praise
  • How to PUSH (encourage) staff if their performance is not satisfactory)

3. OVERCOMING PEOPLE PROBLEMS
  • Dealing with difficult people
  • How to handle with Cross Functions and Subordinates (Being aware of the personal conflict and business conflict)
  • Assertiveness and the supervisor
  • Supervising people you used to work with
  • Solve problems rather than attacking them. Not try to point the issue at each other or not try to win each other in this regard. A proper escalation shall be made to upper level should there no solution

4. MOTIVATING AND LEADING YOUR TEAM
  • What are the motivation tools?
  • Developing your leadership qualities

FACILITATOR’S PROFILE
Mr. SI Len (Executive Director of Cambodia Microfinance Association)
MBA of Management – PUC, Cambodia
BBA of MIS – NUM, Cambodia

SI Len has a Master Degree of Business Administration in General Management from Pannasastra University of Cambodia (PUC), and a Bachelor Degree of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from National University of Management (NUM); and he specializes in strategic human resources management and training and career development; and International Finance Corporation (IFC) and International Labour Organization (ILO) certified as a Trainer of Business Membership Organization (BMO) Management and a Trainer of Policy Advocacy.

Currently, SI Len is an Executive Director of Cambodia Microfinance Association. For many years, he was a Program Manager and a Training Manager of Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations (CAMFEBA). SI Len worked as a Community Development Director of Goodwill Family Resource Center in partner with Digital Divide Data (GFRC-DDD). Prior to this, he used to work as a Chief Human Resource Officer of Newton Thilay Community (NTC) and he was responsible for developing and implementing human resource management strategies, policies and procedures; ensuring recruitment of quality staff; developing and implementing training programs for all staff; planning, organizing, directing and managing the human resource department to achieve departmental objectives.

SI Len has designed the training courses and delivered the trainings such as Human Resources Management, Leadership Development, Essential Management, Effective Supervisory Skills, Personal Effectiveness, Effective Customer Service, and Training Techniques for Trainers, and Employability Skills.
He has also participated in various national and international workshops.

Training Methodology: The following methods will be used during the course: open discussions, case -studies, brainstorming and mini-lectures.
