The position advertised is located in the Operational Support Service, Logistics Support Division, Department of Field Support (OSS/LSD/DFS). The incumbent reports to the Chief of the Strategic Deployment Stock (SDS) Unit.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief SDS, the Logistics Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
- Provide advice to the Chief, SDS on all matters related to the policy and procedures governing the management of the SDS in order to ensure proper accounting, financial management and control of SDS resources;
- In coordination with HQ SAU’s, establish control mechanisms to ensure regular monitoring of SDS utilization and replenishment;
- Develop SDS statistical indicators, define targets and contribute in preparing performance reports for senior management;
- Provide business intelligence expertise in the creation of SDS management analytical tools;
- Assist in drafting responses to ACABQ (Advisory Committee for Administrative and Budgetary Questions), OPPBA (Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts), JIU (Joint Inspection Unit), OIOS (Office of Internal Oversight Services), BOA (Board of Auditors) and other legislative or consultative bodies;
- Perform other related duties as required.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance/accounting, supply chain management, logistics or related fields. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience and other academic qualifications in areas such as logistics operations management or supply chain management may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, public administration, supply chain management, engineering, logistics or related fields. Experience in developing and analyzing complex organizational issues is highly desirable. Experience in IMIS, Galileo and/or the UN procurement policies and processes is also desirable.Extensive experience in using all standard Microsoft applications, including Visio and MS Project, is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of a second official UN language is desirable.
