Job Title: CPO Director
Reports To: Board, CPO
Key Stakeholders: Various charities supporting CPO
Location: Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh
Hours: Full time, flexible: 6:30am-1:30pm or 11am – 7pm
Purpose: This role has responsibility for managing the day-to-day running of Cooperation for Peace Organisation which includes but is not limited to;
- Ensuring the well-being and long-term success of CPO’s children
- Efficiently and transparently managing the organisation
- Managing CPO staff and stakeholders
Principal Accountabilities:
The Director will be responsible for:
1. Ensuring the well-being and long-term success of CPO’s children
- Ensuring the safety and security of CPO’s children
- Ensuring CPO children receive 3 adequate meals a day, healthcare and education in accordance with standards set out by the Board and the minimum standards of child care as outlined by the Ministry of Internal Affairs
- Overseeing all education for children incuding building higher school education plans, identifying solutions to gaps in current education programmes, highlighting issues to the Board
- Monitoring class attendance and working with the schools and parents/grandparents to improve if attendance is poor
- Arranging and overseeing twice annual dentist and doctors visits for all CPO children
- Ensuring effective use of medical supplies and arranging emergency care if necessary
2. Efficiently and transparently managing the organisation
- In year one, restructuring the CPO organisation in consultation with the Board and registering under new legalisation as appropriate
- Producing contracts, policies and other required documentation to ensure the long-term security of CPO’s children at CPO or within their family environment
- Efficiently using funds provided to ensure the well-being of CPO’s children, recording all expenses with legitimate receipts and reporting to the Board on a monthly basis – all purchases are to be made by the Director (not delegated)
- Recording all school attendance and grades, reporting to the Board on a monthly basis
- Producing quarterly reports for the Board to summarise education, housing, healthcare and volunteering activities for the previous quarter as well as plans for the up-coming quarter
- Producing annual expenditure reports and forward-looking budgets and forecasts
- Ensuring adequate maintenance of CPO’s buildings, advising the Board if/when improvements are required
- Proactively identify new opportunities with regard to improving living conditions, education, healthcare and nutrition
3. Managing CPO staff and stakeholders
- Managing at least one staff member who is ‘Mother’ to the children, ensuring that she meets her obligations as an employee of CPO
- Building and maintaining relationships with schools to ensure that CPO’s children receive the best education standards possible
- Building and maintaining relationships with families and guardians of CPO’s children, ensuring that they are supportive of and committed to CPO’s long-term goals
- Effectively managing and supporting CPO’s volunteers to ensure long-term commitment and support from our volunteer network
- Building and maintaining relationships with other NGOs and networks that may aid the well-being and success of CPO
- Building and maintaining relationships with CPO’s Board members and staff, ensuring transparent and open communication
- Proactively identify new ways of working with partners and beneficiaries and implement as required
Skills Required:
- Good English reading, writing and speaking
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work simultaneously with various levels of capabilities
- Ability to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to highlight issues early and formulate articulate solutions
- Good communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Keen interest in working with children
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Relevant diploma or degree
- At least three years experience managing an organisation or orphanage in Cambodia
- Experience of managing staff and resolving conflicts
- Proven experience in structuring a new or restructuring an existing organisation
- Understanding and knowledge of appropriate legislation
