The Peace and Sport Awards Ceremony is held each year during the Gala Evening of the Peace and Sport International Forum.
The Peace and Sport Awards reward initiatives and people who have outstandingly contributed to peace and social stability in the world through sport.
The winners have implemented projects that are symbolic of what sport can accomplish to create links between divided or opposed communities.
Each year, winners of the Peace and Sport Awards are chosen by a jury of eminent, independent personalities, deeply invested in peace-promotion or the consolidation of peace through sport.
The short-listed projects are evaluated according to the following criteria:
- The capacity to be innovative in implementing sport for peace
- Involvement of local stakeholders
- Emphasis placed on sustainability and transfer of skills
- Adaptation to the local environment
- Innovative thinking about what sport represents in the local context
- Quality of monitoring and evaluation processes in the long term
- Cooperation with national governmental and/or non-governmental institutions
- Quantitative and qualitative data reflecting the opinions and aspirations of concerned individuals
- Contribution made to the public debate on the crucial matter of sport for peace
- Flexibility and creativity
Applications:
An invitation for candidate projects is launched by Peace and Sport.
To be eligible, applicants must fill out a specific application form to present a global vision of their initiative and to identify the main characteristics (short description of themes covered, implementation process, results/impact, skill(s) developed/demonstrated...). An accompanying document of maximum two pages should be attached to the form.

Nominees:
Three nominees for each Peace and Sport Award category will be selected and the nominee applications will then be submitted to members of the Peace and Sport Awards Jury, the Peace and Sport Online Platform or members of the Peace and Sport Champions for Peace Club.
The Peace and Sport Awards 2011 will thus bring to light the work of 21 nominees, from which seven winners will be chosen.
The nominee projects will be presented to all delegates throughout the Peace and Sport International Forum through videos and displays in the networking areas as well as information bulletins distributed to participants. The complete list of nominees will also be published on the Peace and Sport’s website.
The Jury:
The Peace and Sport Awards Jury’s primary role is to assess and give points to competing projects in order to define a winner in five of the seven categories.
Two of the Peace and Sport Awards, the Image of the Year and the Champion for Peace of the Year, will have an alternative voting process:
The Image of the Year, announced during the “Podiums d’Or” Gala Evening at Sportel Monaco, is decided by votes from the online public. All members of Peace and Sport's networking platform will have the opportunity to vote directly on the website to elect a winner from selected photographs.
The Champion for Peace of the Year will be selected by members of the Peace and Sport Champions for Peace Club.
Each nominated project will be evaluated according to a set of criteria. The winning project in each category will be the one which receives the highest marks and the most positive reviews.
