Introduction and Course Aims
The course provides understanding of concepts and contents of contemporary project management. (It does not focus on projects of development cooperation.)
Content
Module 0: Introduction into project management learning time 4 hrs within 1 week
- Terminology, concepts and basic approaches to project management, exercises; experience in handling the tools of the learning environment; test.
Web based training with Facilitator: learning time 28 hrs within 7 weeks
Module 1. Starting a project
- project definition, project objectives, development of a project plan, stakeholder analysis
Module 2. Project planning
- work break down structure, resource planning, deadline and progress planning, cost planning, risk planning
Module 3. Project implementation
- project controlling, project supervision.
Module 4. Project completion
- documentation, evaluation

Module 0
You will learn about our didactic concept and content approach. At the same time you will gain experience in handling the learning environment of Global Campus 21.
Modules 1-4
are offered as a web-based training, facilitated by experienced tutors.You will be working in small groups. In order to make group work more efficient, all participants will have to study the basic module, so you can be sure to meet participants, having a sound basic knowledge of and a commitment to project management, using the same terms and being skilled in using the platform. All modules are shaped in a clear didactic design.

To achieve the certificate you will have to
1. Participate actively , i.e. using communication tools (conferences, chats, forum, pin boards)
2. Complete at least 80% of the assignments
Who should attend this course?
This course is designed for people who want to acquire project management skills or to seriously improve their existing skills (i.e. civil servants, experienced business men/women, technicians, organisational developers, managers, trainers, collaborators Liaison officers with international organisations, NGOs.)
Personal Requirements
Sound knowledge of English language, highly motivated to experience online learning and good time management. Basic knowledge of project management would be an advantage but is not compulsory.
Technical requirements
As it is an online training you need an accessible email account and a very reliable internet connection during the course. Internet Explorer 3.1 or Netscape Navigator 3.x Gold (or higher)
