Creative Associates, a dynamic and fast-growing, Washington, DC-based professional services firm specializing in international development in the areas of education and political transitions, seeks qualified candidates for Chief of Party for the Building Education Support Systems for Teachers (BESST) Project in Afghanistan. The Chief of Party (COP) position is an immediate opening on a current project. The BESST project supports primary school teachers in learning and applying the fundamentals of good teaching and subject matter mastery and strengthens and institutionalizes capacity and systems in the Ministry of Education (MOE) that support high quality primary school teaching.
The COP is based in Kabul and is the senior in-country project representative, supervising project partners and staff, and having primary responsibility for coordinating with USAID, Afghan stakeholders, Ministry officials, and Creative Associates’ home office. This is an unaccompanied post.
Requirements include: Master’s degree or equivalent in education or related field (Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred) and a minimum of five years of experience managing donor-funded education projects, including project planning, staff and financial management; extensive knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural practices and issues of different target populations represented in the project; experience working with USAID in a management role; fluency in English with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
