Family Health International (FHI) is dedicated to improving lives, knowledge, and understanding worldwide through a highly diversified program of research, education, and services in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment, reproductive health, and infectious diseases.
Provides strong management leadership and operational oversight to a USAID-funded program to increase the role of test-based diagnosis of malaria in focus and non-focus countries of the President’s Malaria Initiative. Oversees appropriate monitoring of the project , subprojects, sub-awards and sub-awardees to achieve financial, administrative and programmatic goals. Supervises and supports project staff. Works closely and liaises with USAID/Washington to achieve project goals. Works with in-country partners including Ministries of Health and National Malaria Control Programs to strengthen laboratory and rapid test diagnosis of malaria. PhD. in clinical microbiology or related field and 5-7 yrs of experience in malaria diagnostics and laboratory management; or Masters with 7-9 yrs of experience; or BA and 9-11 yrs of experience in malaria diagnostics and laboratory management. Experience interacting with other government agencies, host country governments, and international organizations. Strong written and oral English language skills and proficient language skills in French or Portuguese. Relevant work experience in 2 malarious geographic areas, preferably in Africa. * Offer is contingent upon award of the proposal.
