- Work with people against poverty! Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK) is a member of Oxfam International (OI) and an independent development and relief agency based in Hong Kong. We are looking for talented, high calibre staff to join our anti-poverty work:PROGRAMME OFFICER - CAMBODIA AND MYANMAR
- (A 2-year contract position based in Phnom Penh)
- S/He will be responsible for the strategic management and development of OHK’s development programme and humanitarian work in Cambodia and Myanmar, with some responsibilities on regional projects in southeast Asia. S/He is expected to develop country programme strategies, identify and appraise suitable development programmes, manage grants, develop and manage partnerships with local organizations, coordinate responses to disaster events, undertaking regular monitoring and evaluation. S/He is expected to play a substantive role in ensuring effective OHK advocacy policies, positions and responses on various national issues. S/He is expected to report on broad development and programme issues to the Hong Kong media and general public, to Oxfam Hong Kong’s internal units, and partner agencies. S/He is also expected to work with relevant Oxfam affiliates to promote a coherent and collaborative approach to Oxfam International’s work in the countries.This post will be based in Phnom Penh with regular travel within the country and to Myanmar.
- The successful candidate MUST meet the following requirements:
- Degree-holder with at least 5 years of relevant working experience, especially in programme development, disaster management and policy advocacy
- Understanding of/familiarity with development work/issues in the global south
- A demonstrated ability to undertake heavy travel schedules and work in remote areas
- Facility in spoken and written English, excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent administrative skills, self-initiator but able to work in a team
- A good grasp of gender issues
- A commitment to Oxfam’s approach to developmentPast experience with livelihoods programs, particularly in the Mekong context, is highly desirable
- This position will be based in Cambodia without any expatriate package provided
