WZB-ISSC Global Fellowship

You want to know about the WZB’s international activities? You work on topics that are also researched at the WZB? You are a scientist from abroad and would like to spend some time at the WZB?

For these and other questions, the Office for Research and Career Development is your first contact point. We dispose of a network of European and international specialists and support the establishment of institutional relations to selected research institutes and universities worldwide. We organize events to put relevant research questions investigated at the WZB on the European R&D agenda. In more general terms, we promote the importance of social science research within the European Research Area and also internationally.

Through the WZB-ISSC Global Fellowship Programme, the WZB and the ISSC aim to contribute towards building a new generation of outstanding social scientists in developing countries, who are willing and able to contribute to solving current global problems.

You are interested in the WZB as potential host for your research project? At the WZB, we have long-standing experience in welcoming international researchers and scholarship holders. Our specialists in the Office for Third-party Funding (“Drittmittelstelle”) are pleased to provide administrative support in managing grant projects. Should you be interested in applying for EU projects and ERC grants, please let us know.

In addition to our external undertakings, the activities of the Office for Research and Career Development also address our own researchers. Among others, we organize information events and offer individual advice and support.

The WZB, in cooperation with the ISSC, invites applications for one early-career scientist (Post-Doctoral researcher with no more than 5 years' work experience after their PhD or scientists without a PhD but with an equivalent level of re-search experience and output) residing and wor-king in a developing country to conduct research for up to six months at the WZB. The research project of the fellow should focus on global societal problems with particular relevance to developing country contexts. Moreover, it should be linked to both research conducted at the WZB and to the notion of "Transforming Global Relations for a Just World," which is the topic of the ISSC's World Social Science Forum.
