The U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh is offering a Student Internship Program to Cambodian students from June to September, 2014.
Program Eligibility
In order to be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- must be an active student at a public or private higher education institution;
- must have already completed two years of studies in the institution;
- must be at least 18 years old; and
- must have certification from school administration allowing student to participate in the program covering the period above.
Qualifications Required
- Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and using the Internet.
- Level III (good working knowledge - Speaking/Reading/Writing) English and Khmer are required. Language proficiency will be tested.
- Must possess strong interpersonal, oral, written communication skills and must be able to work independently.
Job Description
- Assist in running the U.S. Embassy’s Information Resource Center (IRC), including completing research using U.S. Department of State databases and other resources in response to inquiries by customers. Provide individual information to IRC visitors using online resources and printed materials.
- Provide clerical assistance and supports public diplomacy programs and administrative areas of the Public Affairs Section (PAS) as needed. Contribute to outreach efforts.
- Under the supervision and direction of the Alumni Coordinator, liaise with U.S. government exchange program alumni to update their details, including employment information, cell phone, email, and the program details and ensure that the alumni database is up-to-date.
- Provide administrative support to the management of the U.S. scholarship programs and PAS-initiated educational and cultural events.
