IDP Education (Cambodia has multiple business streams including the management of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), provision of study abroad counselling services, scholarship program management, conferences and exhibitions management, and English language teaching through its school, the Australian Centre for Education (ACE). ACE has three campuses in Phnom Penh and one in Siem Reap, with around 13, 000. ACE is seeking suitably qualified applicants for the position of Director of Studies.
Teaching Duties
- Maximum teaching load of 9 hours per week.
Academic
- Direct the General English, Children’s and Young Learners’ and EAP, including Pre-Departure programs through the ADoS(es), Coordinators and Lead Teachers
- Design and manage curriculum development, implementation, review and evaluation to ensure curriculum complements Cambodia's development directions and client requirements
- Manage the development, evaluation and review of testing for each of the programs
- Ensure staff employed and the professional development program are in accordance with the strategic directions of ACE
- Manage teacher observation and performance reviews, where appropriate
- Manage the up-date and central filing of all documentation in the Centre regarding all ACE programs including policy and curriculum frameworks
- Represent the Director at education meetings, conferences and functions related to ACE work in Cambodia
- Any other duties as directed
Qualification:
The appointee must:
- be a graduate, with relevant post-graduate qualifications in TESOL/Applied Linguistics
- have extensive background experience involving the following: teaching of EAP/ESP, including overseas (preferably in a developing country); curriculum and materials development; competency based training; knowledge of CALL; coordination and management experience
- have a sound working knowledge of resources and resource allocation
- have some teacher training experience

- be prepared to act as a professional representative of the school at all times
- be able to work as part of a team in a busy, sometimes hectic environment
- be able to work closely and constructively with the Director, other administrators and all teachers
- possess excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to work flexibly and collaboratively to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the teaching programs
- be a committed ELT professional with a strong, active interest in teaching abroad, knowledge and awareness of ELT applied learning/teaching theories and methodologies
- be able to work well under pressure and have the capacity to work to deadlines
- have a medium to long-term commitment to working in Cambodia
DATE OF APPOINTMENT
The successful applicant will be required to take up duty on a starting date to be negotiated (preferably in October 2015).
The initial appointment will be for 24 months with a probationary period of six months but this is intended as an ongoing position for the right person.
