Bridges Across Borders Cambodia (BABC) is an international solidarity organization working to support people’s action for inclusive development, social justice and human rights in Cambodia. The BABC International Volunteer Program strives to bring people together from across the world in meaningful exchanges to make sustainable and positive impacts on both the communities we support in Cambodia and the volunteers themselves. Volunteers and interns have played a key role in supporting the growth of BABC projects and we are continually seeking dynamic and enthusiastic people to join our team.
BABC is searching for an exceptional candidate to fulfill the position of Coordinator for International Volunteer Program. This talented and dynamic individual will manage all elements of the volunteer program, either within our own organization or our partner organizations. Their role involves assessing an organization’s needs and then meeting those needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of the volunteers. The position will be based at the BABC main office in Phnom Penh, with frequent travel to provinces, Kep, Kandal, and Takeo.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researching and writing volunteer policies, procedures and suggesting project activities for volunteers.
- Liaising with BABC program departments and with partner organizations to understand how they work, develop partnerships and assess their volunteering needs.
- Generating appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the needs of the program or organization.
- Providing orientation and appropriate support and training for volunteers.
- Promoting volunteering (externally) through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns.
- Monitoring, supporting, motivating and accrediting volunteers and their work.
- Offering advice and information to volunteers and external organizations through face-to-face, telephone and email contact.
- Managing budgets and resources, including the reimbursement of expenses.
- Keeping up to date with policies related to volunteering and making any necessary modifications to accommodate changes.
- Working with multiple agencies across different sectors in order to establish good working relationships to influence decisions about volunteering.
- Maintaining databases and undertaking any other administrative duties.
- Managing all aspects of communications related to volunteers.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Cambodian national
- Bachelor degree in International Relations, Communications, or in similar field.
- At least one-year of experience in coordinating or working with international volunteers
- Proficient in basic computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and internet usage
- Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate English orally and in writing
- Strong inter-personal skills will be great advantage
- Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers
- Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job
- Can work in flexible hours and be available even weekend when needed
