Pour un Sourire d’ Enfant (PSE) or For a Child’s Smile is a non-profit organization and founded by Christian and Marie-France des Pallières, was established since 1995 in Cambodia. PSE’s mission is to help the most marginalised and debrided children escape from destitution and lead them to decent, skilled and well remunerated jobs. PSE has six main programmes adapted to the needs of the children, those programmes include: food, health, protection, education and schooling, vocational training, and helping families. PSE employs more than 600 employees and provides help to more than 6,500 children and 3000 families. We are operating in Phnom Penh, Sihanouk Ville and Siem Reap.  We are looking for qualified candidates for the positions below.

Housekeeping and Laundry Instructor (This position is fixed-term contract, based in Phnom Penh)

S/he will teach to students in school of hospitality and tourisms of PSE and manage the class s/he is assigned to ensure quality of education and proper behavior for the sector. Also, s/he will responsible to prepare and update all training materials and handouts for the assigned subject.

JOB SUMMARY (BASIC FUNCTIONS)
The primary functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide professional, effective and measurable education in the assigned subject[s] of each student’s curricula, in the assigned classes, in line with the class schedule of work, meeting the objectives and policies of the relevant division[s] and within the confines of PSE policy.
  • Serve as Class Advisor (see additional job description) when requested.
  • Create, modify, update and prepare textbooks, handouts and examinations to assist and/or evaluate student learning in the assigned subjects.
  • Remain up to date in the specialized field relative to assigned subjects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Departmental Review and Development
  1. Make recommendations and offers suggestions regarding program, course or class development, including, but not limited to, the preparation of the annual departmental operational budget plan and the three-year departmental strategic plan, ensuring it supports the overall school vision, mission, goals and objectives.
  2. Draft, make recommendations and submit course descriptions, long-range plans, lesson plans, course syllabi, textbooks, handouts and etc to ensure up to date materials and information are presented to students according to deadlines set by Superiors.
  3. Prepare, submit and make recommendations regarding requisitions for equipment, supplies and materials to support the instructional objectives of subjects taught.
Curriculum
  1. Plans, organizes, prepares, delivers and reviews lessons and other activities with the objective of ensuring the effective learning of assigned students in the agreed syllabi;
  2. Actively participate with other members of the School and Division in developing syllabuses, materials and plans of work, which include clearly identified objectives shared with students;
  3. Employs various methods of teaching and learning assessment appropriate to the abilities and aspirations of the students enabling them to take maximum responsibility for their own learning and achievement.
Student Assessment, Reporting and Support
  1. Maintains effective records of the attendance and progress of classes and individual students in accordance with the attendance recording policy of PSE and submits reports and records following the approved grading/scoring assessment policy of Company in a timely manner according to deadlines established by Superiors;
  2. Actively participates in all activities designed to update, modify or improve assessment criteria guidelines or policies;
  3. When requested, consults and informs relevant PSE staff regarding the progress, attainment and attitude of students while keeping the Superiors informed.
Finance and Resource Management
  1. Ensures equipment and resources provided for use are maintained in good order and the rooms allocated for use are cared for and offer an attractive and educationally stimulating environment for students.
  2. Ensure materials and supplies issued to others are used as intended with safety and efficiency.
  3. Accept responsibility for the receipt, accountability, security and safe use of all property, equipment, learning materials, etc. issued to support the Program of Instruction.
Personnel
  1. Assist Superiors in training and orienting new employees regarding their role in our school achieving our schools vision, mission, goals and objectives.
  2. Actively participates in induction training programs and will participate in the school new employee orientation program for new faculty or staff when requested;
  3. Willingly participates in PSE approved faculty and staff appraisal system as appropriate;
  4. Closely adheres to relevant health and safety regulations;
  5. Actively participates in PSE staff development activities as required.
Liaise within and outside the Institute
  1. Attends all relevant faculty, staff meetings as reasonably required;
  2. Participates in PSE publicity and recruitment events as appropriate;
  3. Participates as appropriate in liaison with students and parents/guardians in accordance with PSE policy;
  4. Maintains an awareness of health and safety issues and adheres to any relevant PSE policies on these and other matters;
  5. Maintains an awareness of the need to professionally represent PSE and the Hotel School to the community.

  • Experience in the specific field of the industry for each assigned subject combined with the ability to actively participate in curricula development, implementation, quality assessment and scheduling.
  • Pleasant, personable and adept in social graces.
  • Has skill to manage time effectively to maximize output.
  • Possesses the potential for developing managerial skills with good leadership characteristics.
  • Good human relations.
  • Creativity.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Fair office automation equipment and computer skills.
  • Good oral and written English language skills are essential to ensure accuracy of materials and information provided to students because English is the medium of the course of study.
