We work with government partners and local NGOs to improve children’s lives, especially marginalized and disadvantaged children. Save the Children is looking for a qualified national candidate for the position of Intern-Human Resource – full time based in Phnom Penh.

Purpose of the Role
The intern will assist and learn from the Recruitment Officer as well as the HR team about the recruitment process, including facilitating interview schedules, arranging appointments with candidates, and monitoring during the process. S/he also provides support in updating HR records and performing day-to-day administration of a range of other HR tasks as needed.

Qualifications (preferred):
  • Fresh graduate in Business Administration or related field;
  • Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Internet);
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Good spoken and written English;
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning;
  • Excellent work ethic and attention to detail.

Background
Save the Children’s program structure has been in a period of expansion and it is set to continue. An increase of staffing is required to meet the needs of this current and future program expansion.

Given the increase of staffing levels, regular recruitment of new positions and replacements is undertaken. Recruitment is a time-consuming process which requires going through several procedures. As such, the HR team has identified a need for extra staff to cope with the increased workload. An Intern-HR would be a suitable person to help out with the administration of recruitment.

Role of Purpose:
The intern will assist and learn from the Recruitment Officer as well as the HR team about the recruitment process, including facilitating interview schedules, arranging appointments with candidates, and monitoring during the process. S/he also provides support in updating HR records and performing day-to-day administration of a range of other HR tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:
Recruitment
  • Book interview rooms in a timely manner;
  • Produce interview schedules and send out to each panel member;
  • Arrange interview appointments with candidates;
  • Inform back suggested changes in appointment, if any. Finalise the interview schedules and confirm the panel;
  • On the appointment date, keep track of candidates and follow up on any absences in a timely manner;
  • Facilitate the writing test, and monitor during the process to ensure candidates do not use internet searches, refer to any hard documents or use other sources;
  • Notify candidates of the result of interviews.
Data Record
  • Prepare personnel files;
  • Update recruitment tracker;
  • Update leave record;
  • Assist in photocopying and scanning documents.
Timesheet and other administration tasks
  • Collect and follow up timesheet from staff members by comparing staff list with actual timesheet received;
  • Assist HR team in day to day administration tasks; and
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the HR team.

2. Benefits for the intern
  • Gain awareness of meeting room booking systems, how to handle room arrangements quickly and appropriately, and be flexible to change to fit number of people on the interview panel;
  • How to provide high standards of communication with the candidates when inviting them for an interview and other notifications;
  • Learn how to organise personnel files in a timely manner;
  • How to maintain accurate HR database, recruitment tracker and leave record;
  • Provide support to administration of other HR tasks;
  • At the end of internship, the intern will have improved her/his practical knowledge and skills and acquired professional work experience.

3. Payment and other Save the Children Obligations
  • Offer USD 150 per month covering stipend and phone allowance;
  • Reimburse any expenses incurred, if they are required travel outside work base station, while undertaking work on behalf of SCI. This may include food allowance, accommodation and transport. The transport allowance will be offered only when Save the Children International vehicle is not available;
  • Cover health and accident insurance during the internship with the organization;
  • Provide internship certification at the end of the assignment.
