Woman’s Hour Craft Prize

The Woman's Hour Craft Prize 2017 is a BBC, Crafts Council and V&A initiative. It aims to find and celebrate the most innovative and exciting craft practitioner/s or designer-maker/s resident in the UK today, in the most comprehensive prize of its kind.

The prize will reward originality and excellence in concept, design and process and individuals who have demonstrably contributed to craft practice in the last five years.

The prize will be judged by experts in the craft field, with twelve finalists exhibiting their work at the V&A and in a subsequent touring exhibition.

An overall winner will be chosen from the twelve exhibiting finalists and awarded a prize of £10,000 at a ceremony in November 2017

Over the past 70 years Woman's Hour has championed and celebrated both the craft of listeners and of craft practitioners and in that tradition the launch of the prize coincides with the celebrations for their anniversary year.

Who is eligible?
The Prize is open to British nationals and UK residents (of any gender) who are aged 18 years or over (on the submission deadline of the 6 February 2017). Students in full or part-time education (studying for a craft qualification) are not eligible.

The Prize is not open to employees of the BBC, Crafts Council, V&A, or anyone connected with the Prize or their direct family members.
