Job description
Responsibilities
The Data Migration Specialist will
own end to end data migration and integration activities for the
Universe project including analysing ETL application requirements,
designing, implementing and executing data migration processes, testing
data for accuracy and completeness and troubleshooting data integration
failures.
Main Tasks/Responsibilities
Perform analysis of legacy data and data models,
provide best practices for migrating and manipulating source data to
Salesforce environments or data warehouse repositories.

Design technical solutions to migrate data from multiple sources optimised to work with large volumes and minimise the migration window and subsequent operational impact with re-use in mind for future, similar migrations.

Specify, implement and maintain necessary systems for migration and integration activities in local and server environments.

Create and document scripts/programs to facilitate the extraction, transformation and loading of legacy data.

Include data quality and testing as a key component of all activities.

Apply normalization modeling techniques.

Develop technical data migration documentation (including migration plan, mappings, data extraction file layout/specifications, migration and verification protocols, etc.)

Manage and coordinate the data migration activities with the development teams, including tasks and timelines, the execution of data cleansing and standardization activities to be implemented.

Perform data extracts, data translation, and data cleanup to implement new Salesforce based instances in NROs..

Support the project teams during user acceptance testing activities and assist in development of post-deployment data maintenance plan.

Project plan tracking, coordination and reporting.

Troubleshoot data integration failures to optimize transfer jobs, provide process improvement recommendations to business users and provide system control recommendations to appropriate development teams to prevent transfer of bad data between systems.

Perform special data manipulation and data cleanup projects.
Qualifications
-
3+ years of recent experience in ETL

3+ years of recent end to end data migration experience

Knowledge of complex data extraction, transformation, and data loading techniques

Experience with ETL and data synchronization/integration tools such as SSIS, Boomi, SnapLogic, Informatica, Relational Junction, Jitterbit

Strong ability to write technical requirements

Experience with database systems such as MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS Access

Experience with large volume Cloud-based database systems, preferably Salesforce

Familiarity with CRM / fundraising platforms

Experience working on projects with global teams, with the ability to gather and discuss data requirements with non-technical users

Ability to build positive working relationships within cross-functional teams to effectively communicate and coordinate projects

Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently in a fluid, fast-paced environment

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and possess the wherewithal to seek direction and/or feedback proactively

Experience with Agile / Scrum Methodology

Salesforce ADM-201 certification

Bachelors degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field preferred
