TFT is seeking several experienced and motivated professionals to
expand our work to help companies source responsible products,
especially palm oil. The successful candidate will have experience in
supply chain management, procurement etc and will be numerate,
articulate and well-organized, as well as passionate about environmental
and social issues.
The positions are full time and based in TFT’s offices in either Kuala Lumpur or Jakarta, with frequent travel required.
Key Roles
- Business development: attract new companies to join other TFT Members in bringing transparent, responsible, deforestation-free palm oil to the market.
- Stakeholder communication: build strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders active in responsible palm oil including NGOs, governments, and donors.
- Member responsibility: key contact between assigned Members and TFT
- Project/program responsibility: ensure delivery of donor and member requirements in line with client expectations and those of TFT
- Develop member-related communication tools and documents
- Support the development of TFT’s activities in S.E. Asia, including in pulp & paper, wood products, and other supply chains as required.
Responsibilities
TFT has a long track record of successfully assisting businesses to
deliver responsible products to market. Our approach includes 5 key
activities:
- Mapping the supply chain, identifying key social and environmental risks;
- Establishing traceability systems all the way back to the raw material source;
- Providing on-the-ground technical assistance to help tackle key sustainability risks;
- Communicating the changing product story with stakeholders.
The Project Manager will be responsible for bringing in new companies
to work with TFT to deliver responsible products, especially palm oil,
as well as working with other TFT team members to ensure that client
goals are met.
Special Conditions
- Expected to travel ~30%, mostly in S.E. Asia but with occasional long-haul to Europe
- Required to devote as much time as necessary to fulfill the duties of employment or as reasonably required, whether or not within office hours
Education, Qualifications, Skills, Experience
Required:
- University degree or higher-level qualification;
- A minimum of three years working with businesses ideally in the consumer goods sector on business development/sales, supply chain management, procurement, quality control, and/or sustainability;
- Strong understanding of business supply chains and sourcing issues a must;
- Strong writing, editing and formatting skills in English;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required to enable completion of daily tasks as well to facilitate reporting, project management, internal communications etc.;
- Good understanding and high interest in environmental and social responsibility issues;
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary and multicultural team;
- Fluency in written and spoken English (other additional languages an advantage);
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally;
- Able to work flexible hours (outside 9-5 workday), as required;
- Able to handle multiple tasks and work autonomously;
- Flexibility, ability to show initiative and a positive attitude;
- Eager to continually learn and develop as part of a team;
Preferred:
- Experience in business development;
- Experience in Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives;
- Knowledge of commodity trading and/or certification.
