Director of Marketing

The “Association de Santé Familiale” (ASF), an affiliated of Population International Services, is a non-profit organization which implements health activities in Democratic Republic of Congo by using Social Marketing approach. Its mission is to improve in a measurable way, the health of poor and vulnerable populations by influencing their behavior. For that purpose, products and health services which save lives are available and communication activities promoting behavior change are implemented in malaria, HIV, reproductive health and children survival. To reach the goal, ASF works in partnership with public and private sectors and uses the power of markets.

PSI, working through the affiliate Association de Santé Familial (ASF), seeks experienced, dynamic candidates for the position of Marketing Director for its office in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The Marketing and Communications Director will be in charge of coordinating marketing and communications priorities for the platform. The Marketing and Communications Director will be tasked with transforming these priorities into actionable strategies and plans and oversee the effective implementation of these plans. The Marketing Director will supervise the Deputy Director of Communication, the Deputy Director of Distribution & Provinces Coordination, and the Director of Research and M&E.  S/he will be based in Kinshasa and reports to the Country Representative and will be responsible for the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  1. Marketing and communication
  • Set marketing priorities with program managers which are in line with the platform’s vision. S/he will assure their achievements through adequate and actionable strategies.
  • Develop annually marketing plans integrating innovative strategies with programs and Research department
  • Execute and Coordinate the implementation of marketing and communication strategies for ASF’s products, services and brands; according to the Strategic Plan budget available and the required standard quality.
  • Promote with health key players, including governmental authorities, the role of Social Marketing to achieve sanitary impact among vulnerable populations
  • Analyze the total market by using the “Total Market Approach” – TMA to obtain market information which can direct distribution strategies for products and services based on population needs.
  1. Sales, Distribution and Provinces coordination
  • Develop annually Distribution and sales plan in association with program managers and Research Department; according to budget available.
  • Organize with MIS the methodology of collecting sales data daily/weekly and monthly
  • Manage the partnership and assure the benchmark with the private commercial sector
  • Coordinate and manage ASF’ provincial offices to insure communication, sales and distribution objectives achievement
  • Assure the synchronization of activities execution on Consumer and Trade marketing.
  1. Managerial contribution for the development of the platform
  • Participate in the platform global strategic planning in which are transplanted marketing, communication, public relations, sales and distribution strategies
  • Develop a staff development program based on needsDevelop and maintain solid relations with partners and service providers such as advertising and production agencies
  • Represent ASF beside external stakeholders by developing and maintaining solid relations with the main partners: investors, services partners (advertising and production agencies), media and celebrities by answering questions related to marketing, communications and distribution, as well as those about institutional communication
  • Develop reasonable spending strategies in marketing and communication while assuring the preservation or the required standard quality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master degree in Marketing, Economy, Administration or any other equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years in the management of marketing and distribution department in commercial or social marketing organization with competencies in social franchise development
  • Have excellent skills in interpersonal, oral and written communication in French and English
  • Have managerial and operational skills to work in a pressure and complex environment, in a developing country, in sub-Sahara Africa.
The successful candidate will exhibit creative, innovative, and strategic thinking ability; excellent oral and written French and English communication skills, analytical, organizational interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; strong attention to detail; outstanding donor and government relations skills are also important; ability to work efficiently and quickly under pressure; The candidate must be able to analyze information fast, set clear goals, prioritize tasks, mobilize resources, and cope in a high-intensity, high-energy environment; and a proven ability to produce results and meet objectives under difficult circumstances.
