Research Fellow

The Globalisation Team at IDS is seeking to appoint one or two Research Fellows who will work on the green transformation and pay particular attention to the role of business in this process. We are interested in the drivers of the green transformation – understood as the process of restructuring which brings the economy within planetary boundaries. Candidates with interest in theories of transformation and policies for accelerating the green transformation would be particularly welcome. Expertise in the rising powers would be an advantage.
Applicants should have a PhD in economics, business, development or environmental studies or a related discipline and preference will be given to candidates who have an internationally-recognised record of academic publishing (although in exceptional cases, comparable research and practical experience may be taken as a substitute). Individuals should have a track record of research with a proven ability to translate research findings into implications for policy for both the public and private sectors.
It is vital that applicants demonstrate a track record of fundraising, obtaining grants, research awards and consultancies to allow them to pursue both independent and collaborative research.
We are considering all levels – from post-doc to mid-career to professorial level. The salary offered for these posts will be in accordance with qualifications and experiences.
Salary: Depending on qualifications and experience IDS Fellows are paid at a point within the IDS 7, 8 & 9 scales (£33,467 – circa £65,000)
Closing Date: 24 February 2014 (10:00 midday UK Time)
Telephone interviews: W/C 10 March 2014
Interview date: W/C 24 March 2014
